Expedition Dispatches

We know how challenging it can be when a friend or loved one goes off on an expedition, so we have established weblogs for each of our expeditions so you can follow their progress. Each expedition is listed by its start date under the heading of the mountain the team is attempting to climb.

The Fine Print: Communication from the high mountains is getting easier and better, but is still never a sure thing. Please keep in mind that "no news is good news", when it comes to these updates. Weather, cold batteries, thick clouds and mountainous terrain can all conspire to prevent our guides from keeping in regular touch with our office and thus, from our keeping these updates current. We will always do our best to keep you up to date on how things are going and where teams are at, but please keep in mind that we are all subject to the above mentioned vagaries.

International expeditions will be updated beginning at the expedition's meeting place in its respective country. Updates will probably not be posted through the days it takes to fly to and from a given country, so please encourage your loved ones to buy a phone card and give you a ring when they are about to fly home.

If at any time you need to contact a family member who is on one of our expeditions, please call or email us and we will do our best to get word out to them as soon as possible. All of our international expeditions carry satellite phones and our Denali climbs can communicate via cell phone as well, so we do have a good system of communication to relay messages.
